The lessons Zone Su taught me
/
Today, I walked past a traditional Taiwanese breakfast shop.
At first glance, it looked like nothing special — an old building with no fancy decorations. Inside, several people were waiting for their breakfast.
But when I took a closer look, I noticed that each person had a different kind of connection with the owner. Every greeting, every conversation, every little interaction seemed to carry its own story.
And in that moment, I suddenly understood.
Maybe for many people, getting breakfast is no longer just about a piece of toast or a cup of soy milk.
Maybe they also come for that warmth — the feeling of human connection, and the simple comfort of being seen and cared for.
It was only after running a breakfast shop myself that I slowly began to understand:
Zone Su was never just selling a cup of almond milk tea.
We were selling a greeting.
A moment of care.
A little reminder that someone was thinking of you.
And somehow, we were bringing people together — creating those precious connections between people that make life feel a little warmer.
I think this might be the most beautiful thing my breakfast shop ever taught me: sometimes, what we serve not only food, but connection.
