Budae Jjige on the portable burner

Budae-jjigae (Literally "army base stew") or spicy sausage stew is a type of Korean jjigae (stew), made
with ham, sausage, Spam, baked beans, kimchi, instant noodles, and gochujang.
The dish was created shortly after the armistice that ended the Korean War, using the scrounged or smuggled surplus foods from U.S.
military bases. Although the dish was born in the period of post-war impoverishment, it continued to be popular during the period of rapid growth, and is still popular today. It is also called Johnsontang Soup after United States President Lyndon B. Johnson, who is said to have raved about the taste of the dish during his visit to Korea.

Budae-Jjigae (Asker Güveci) yada acılı Sosisli Güveç, Kore’nin meşhur güveçlerinden biridir. Genelde
Jambon, sosis, fasulye, Kimçi, erişte ve Kore’nin ozel acılı sosu olan Goçujang ile pişiriliyor. 1950 yıllarında Kore savaşının bitişinde Amerikan askeri üssünden çalınmiş yada gizlice çıkartılmış malzemelerle yapılmaya başlandı. Bu yemek Kore savaşından sonra pişirildiği halde Kore’nin her şehrine oldukça hızlı yayılmış ve çok
sevilen meşhur bir yemek olmus. Ayrıca Budae-Jjigae ye ‘Johnsontang Corbasi’ deniliyor, çünkü eski American
Cumhurbaskanı Lyndon B. Johnson, 1966 yılında Kore’ye geldiğinde bu yemeğin lezzetine bayılmış ve hayranlıkla söz etikten sonra böyle adlandırılmıştır
