Congratulations Miss Heilala 2026-27!!

Nuku'alofa, Tonga: Silia Matelau (22), was crowned Miss Heilala 2026 tonight, 3 July 2026, at the Miss Heilala Ball in the ‘Atele Indoor Stadium. The US-born Tongan, who entered the pageant as Miss Lady Maria Australia 2026, won all but one of the main judging categories.

The staff and management of Friends Café were delighted to host breakfast this morning for the reigning Miss Heilala 2026, Siosi'ana Taumoepeau, and the wonderful contestants for this year's Miss Heilala Pageant.

We wish each contestant every success as you celebrate Heilala Week. May God bless you all with a safe, joyful, and memorable festival.

Today we continue to celebrate 200 years since the Gospel first reached the Kingdom of Tonga, marking the beginning of the Christian faith in our beloved Friendly Islands.

God spared nothing but gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to come into the world and die on the cross for our sins. As the Bible declares:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16

The red Cross that proudly flies on the Flag of Tonga is a powerful reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the Christian foundation upon which our nation stands. Inspired by that same Cross, we have incorporated the Cross of Jesus into the balustrades of our new balcony as a lasting symbol of our faith and our gratitude for God's faithfulness to Tonga over these past 200 years.

Happy 26th of June as we celebrate 200 years of Christianity in the Kingdom of Tonga.
