Sunset over Kao Volcano
This time of year, the sun dips right behind Kao, Tonga’s highest peak. Best enjoyed from the Sandy Beach Resort bar during happy hour. Cheers!

DREAM BIG !

No chasing. No following. No trying to keep up.

Just staying stationary in the water and allowing the whales to decide if, when, and how close they want to come.

Baby humpbacks are born without enough blubber to float effortlessly. To help them breathe, mothers gently lift their calves to the surface on their own heads. A breathtaking glimpse of maternal care in the wild. 🐋💙

A double double breach

Feels like a Breaching kind of Monday morning here in Tonga.
Why do whales breach? Possible reasons are..... communication and social interaction to removing parasites, startling prey, or simply play. And sometimes, it may just be the ultimate whale-sized belly flop. 💦

Nature’s way of making an entrance. ✨

Some glassy calm conditions recently always better for viewing the whales from the drone, although in my experience the whales are less active for surface displays on these days.
