As usual, Borderline organises a special art show on International Women's Day. This is your chance to have your art on a wall of a real Art Gallery. Or on a table, the floor or hanging from the ceiling.
This year's topic is "Wave".

He will be there at 5 pm until 8,30 pm. The gallery is open until 9.

Maung Maung Tinn is a Mae Sot treasure. For decades he has made us feel home in his adopted new home.
While others wrote reports, Maung Maung Tinn just painted the truth.
Often working weeks on a single painting, he would not only transfer what we could see, he added what we could feel.
The eyes of child won't let you go. The tears are real. As are the smiles.
Since 2004 he has made a calendar each year. Twelve portraits of Humanity.
The artwork he makes is so real that he cannot easily depart from it.
Although he has been a dear friend of Borderline since the beginning, we rarely have a show with his art. So today is a very special day.
Besides paintings from a variety of years, we at Borderline have not yet seen the work he will display, there will also be some older calendars you can flip through.
And hopefully some old calendars for sale.
Unlike the years the calendars represent, his art never age. Just see how topics 20 years ago are sadly still relevant today.
There will be snacks and juices and it starts around 6. We think.

Friday 23 January at 10 am is the Grand Opening with snacks and drinks. The whole day you can look at dozens cartoons with your favourite characters if the Burmese saga. Cartoonist will be at hand to explain and translate.
If 10 am in not convenient, there is a small opening at 5 pm. Also with snacks and drinks.
And don't forget that Spark Circus will perform in Stardust Studio.

Coming Friday, Mae Sot will be the cultural capital of Thailand. Besides the opening of an exhibition of cartoons by artists from Burma, there is also the opening of Spark! Circus Show at Stardust Studio.
Spark! Circus have been friends of Mae Sot for many years. 15 perhaps. While aiming for the children, adults have been infected as well. There is a clown in all of us.
So clear your agenda and oil your bicycle so you can enjoy both events.
Or pick one and save the other one.

Our first show of the new year. Colour pictures of his homeland. Dark messages and quotes of hope.
Here fragments can be seen. The whole picture is to be viewed on 9, 10 and 11 January.
It starts Friday at 5 pm. The artist will be there.
Borderline Tea Garden will provide snacks and juice.

Today we are preparing our place for another year. Some of you have seen the disappearance of tree and plants, this is temporary. You might pass Borderline looking for green leaves, so focus on our signboard. Like all our food and drinks, made by ourselves.
Rearranging books we found a stash of Swedish language novels and some real classics.
Tuesday January 6 at 7:30 am we are ready to host you and feed you your favourite dish.
One visitor who has been abroad for some time mentioned that our prices haven't changed for many years and we have no intention now.
So see you tomorrow.
And let 2026 bring more peace. (Ah, Venezuela....)

"WHO MOVES MY LIFE?"
(Photo Exhibition)

Than Lwin Khet News Media respectfully invites you to visit our photo exhibition, "WHO MOVES MY LIFE?” starting tomorrow, December 10th (International Human Rights Day).

The exhibition presents images of the powerless lives of o***m farmers in Myanmar, women and children displaced by war, and victims of modern-day slavery (scam operations / 'Kyar Phyant') who have been stripped of their choices.

This Friday at 5 pm the students from Shinning Stars School, will show their art at our Borderline Gallery. This will be their third show. The whole weekend you can come and talk with students and teachers and admire the art and perhaps take one home and support the school.
