In the rustic south-west Koh Samui village of Thong Krut, The Melting Pot offers a refreshing alternative to the plentiful local Thai cuisine. Popular with locals and tourist alike, this small restaurant of just 8 tables prides itself in high-quality food, drink and service; and ably delivers through long-term local British expat James Ransby and Belgian Chef de Cuisine Patrick Lambret. Featuring a superb menu created by Executive Chef Sebastien Legros, The Melting Pot offers a blend of international favourites using the freshest and best quality ingredients available. The Melting Pot has received rave reviews for dishes such as the Unforgettable Caesar Salad, their legendary Lasagna Bolognese and their selection of desserts such as their famous Belgian Chocolate Brownie; and its Franco-Belgian specialties such as Vol-au-Vent, Boulet Liegoise and Tartare de Thon Rouge. The food on offer is complimented by a generous choice of Old World wines (by glass or bottle) specifically chosen for their cuisine, an extensive list of “Really Good Cocktails”, imported Belgian & local beers, and a range of whiskies, spirits and aperitifs, as well as fruit juices & shakes and soft drinks. Thong Krut is the last remaining authentic fishing village on the island and, due to their good relations with the local fisherman community, The Melting Pot is able to select the best catches of the day – long before they ever get to the markets. The Melting Pot often offers Friday evening special theme events such as “The Lord of the Fish” fish buffet BBQs and as-much-as-you-can-eat “Mussels from Brussels” (Moules-Frites), where booking is essential as the restaurant must pre-order fresh fish & seafood based on numbers coming.
