LA DARONNE: Thursday 19 March 2026!

À l’occasion de la Journée internationale des droits des femmes, pour le film du “3ᵉ jeudi du mois” de ce mois-ci, l’Alliance Française Suriname vous présente une héroïne qui refuse de rester dans les limites que la société a tracées pour elle.

Dans 'La Daronne,' l’incomparable Isabelle Huppert incarne Patience Portefeux, une brillante traductrice de la police, longtemps sous-estimée, qui se retrouve soudain à naviguer dans le milieu criminel parisien de la manière la plus inattendue. Spirituel, malicieux et délicieusement subversif, le film renverse les idées reçues sur le pouvoir et nous rappelle qu’il n’est jamais trop t**d pour se réinventer.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, for this “3rd Thursday of the Month Movie,” the Alliance Française Suriname presents a heroine who refuses to remain within the lines society has drawn for her.

In 'La Daronne,' the incomparable Isabelle Huppert plays Patience Portefeux, a brilliant yet underestimated police translator who suddenly finds herself navigating the Parisian underworld in the most unexpected way. Sharp, mischievous, and delightfully subversive, the film turns the idea of power upside down and reminds us that reinvention can come at any moment in life.
