The cableway was once the backbone of coal transport in Longyearbyen, carrying buckets of coal from the mines to the storage area at the coal quay. Built in 1907 and shut down in 1987, its iconic props still stand as a reminder of the town’s mining past.

Now, you can build your own tiny version! 🛠️ This wooden DIY cableway is handmade at *Alt I 3* and available **exclusively at the Svalbard Museum**. A little piece of Arctic history, ready for you to assemble!
