These twin cakes of sheng puer are only a couple of years old. How come they are so dark, you might wonder? Well, it's because they are made using millennial tree material from the famous Bingdao mountains. When treated and pressed properly, high-grade puer tea undergoes natural fermentation a lot faster than its plantation (aka taidicha 台地茶) counterparts. In case you were wondering, cakes like these sell for $600-1000 these days.
