In an emergency, the last thing you want is to waste time figuring out what to bring. Save this checklist now, before you need it. 🐾

A few things worth knowing:
1. Medical records help us understand your pet's history fast, digital copies on your phone work just as well as printed ones
2. If your pet ate something it shouldn't have, bring the packaging if it's safe to grab, but never induce vomiting unless a vet tells you to
3. A quick video of an unusual symptom (seizures, limping, breathing issues) can help, especially if it's stopped by the time you arrive

Most importantly: if it's a real emergency, don't delay coming in just because you don't have everything on this list. Bring what you can, and we'll take it from there.

Save this post so it's ready when you need it.

Excuse me, I am not LAZY. 😤

This is not a nap. This is not laziness. This is a highly trained cat conserving energy for very important future activities (like staring at you while you eat, or knocking something off the table at 3am).

Be honest, how many hours does your cat clock in "energy saving mode" every day? Drop the number below, we're taking bets. 👇

Ever wondered what your dog dreams about? 💤

Turns out, dogs go through REM sleep just like we do, those little paw twitches, muffled barks, or eye movements during a nap are a real sign of it. We can't know exactly what they're dreaming about, but we like to imagine their favourite adventures — or you, coming home with treats! hahaha 🦴

Does your pup twitch or "talk" in their sleep? Tell us below! 👇

An ordinary household toy became a real medical emergency!

A dog came to us after swallowing part of a toy. We took an X-ray right away, which clearly showed the object lodged in the digestive tract. Based on that, surgery was the safest way forward — and it went well. The toy was successfully removed, and after some post-op care and monitoring, this good boy recovered fully and went home safe.

A few things worth knowing if this ever happens to you:
1. Don't try to induce vomiting without veterinary advice, sharp or unusual objects can cause more harm coming back up
2. Don't give food or medication, hoping it'll help the object pass
3. Watch for vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or straining, symptoms can take hours or even days to appear
4. When in doubt, don't wait it out, even if your dog seems fine, early assessment matters

If you ever suspect your dog swallowed something it shouldn't have, contact us right away. Early action made all the difference in this case.

FAQ Corner: What's the difference between X-ray and ultrasound? 🐾

X-rays are best for viewing bones, detecting foreign objects, and assessing the size and shape of organs.

Ultrasounds use sound waves to create images of soft tissues, and are ideal for examining organs like the liver, kidneys, heart, and detecting pregnancy or tumors. Often, both imaging methods complement each other for a comprehensive diagnosis.

Questions about what your pet might need? Just ask us — we're happy to walk you through it.

A little greenery can brighten your home, but some plants can put your dog at risk. 🐾🌿

Money plant (golden pothos), aloe vera and dieffenbachia can be harmful when chewed or swallowed. Sago palm and oleander are especially dangerous, with ingestion potentially causing life-threatening poisoning.

If your dog loves chewing or exploring with their mouth, check the plants in your home and garden, and watch what they pick up during walks. Keep potentially toxic plants—including fallen leaves and seeds—out of reach.

Suspect your dog has chewed or swallowed a toxic plant? Contact a vet immediately, even if they seem well. Take a clear photo of the plant to help with identification, and do not induce vomiting unless instructed by a vet.

Save this post and take a closer look at the greenery around your pet today. 🌿

These are three of the health issues we see most often, and the good news is, all three are things we can genuinely help with early. 🐾

Weight-related illness is something we regularly see, extra weight puts pets at real risk for diabetes, joint problems, and heart disease. A proper consultation and honest guidance on diet can make a bigger difference than most owners expect.

Dental disease is another big one, mostly because it's easy to miss. Bad breath or a bit of tartar can look minor, but left unchecked it can lead to pain, infection, and even affect other organs. Regular dental scaling catches it before it gets there.

For senior cats especially, kidney disease is one of the leading health concerns we watch for. It often develops quietly, with no obvious symptoms until it's more advanced — which is exactly why regular blood test screening matters more as your cat gets older.

None of these need to become serious if they're caught early. Walk in for a check-up — no appointment needed, we're happy to talk through what's right for your pet.

When you choose to share your life with a companion animal, love alone isn't enough. It takes:

⏳ Time: they need you every day, not just when it's convenient. Feeding, walks, playtime, and attention aren't occasional, they're daily.

💰 Budget: food, grooming, and vet care add up over years, not weeks. Worth planning for the ongoing cost, not just the adoption fee.

🤝 Commitment: they're not a phase. Whatever changes in your life: a move, a new job, a relationship, they're still your responsibility for their whole life.

If you're getting ready to adopt, we're here to help you start things off right — a first health check-up, vaccination planning, sterilisation, or just a conversation about what to expect. Walk in anytime, no appointment needed, and we'll talk you through it.
