š„ Pumping mums, did you know not all fridges are equal? š
I learned this the hard way during a staycation when I realised the hotel bar fridge wasnāt actually cold enough for the breast milk āfridge hackā and storage.
And honestly⦠between 7 pumps a day, midnight sessions, and not wanting to keep calling concierge (and wake my whole family up š), it felt like a full-on logistics operation.
But I managed to make it work instead of going home š
Hereās what helped me!
š§ Ice bucket method (my main lifesaver)
Make sure the milk is fully surrounded by iceānot just sitting on a few cubes at the bottom. I kept topping up ice whenever it melted.
š¤ Batch your noisy tasks
I tried to combine concierge calls + ice refills + storage runs just before my hubby and baby slept or when they are in deep sleep mode.
ā° Try to maintain your Pumping schedule
Even while travelling, I stuck to my pump times as closely as possible to avoid clogged ducts and supply dips - but of course do the best you can with your circumstances!
Not the most enjoyable part of a staycation⦠but it made it possible to still enjoy some time out of house when I was 3 months postpartum! š¤
If youāve ever pumped while travelling, whatās your biggest hack (or struggle)? šŖš»
