From Oct 31 to Nov 3, we are on their home ground with newly launched specialty blends, Easy Rider and Daily Driver brewed their way: think kopi-o kosong, kopi-c siew dai, and all the works.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭-𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥?

Peak hours can be wonderfully hectic, with drinks to make, toast to prepare, and orders coming in nonstop. Everyone has their own role, and by working together, we keep things moving. While it can be tiring, the lively energy and shared satisfaction of getting through a fast-paced day together make it worthwhile.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰?

I’d say it’s keeping everything consistent when the stall is at its busiest. Even after almost two years here, I’m still learning and looking for ways to improve, especially when orders come in all at once. Making drinks and serving customers may seem simple, but there are always little details to learn and fine-tune.

I enjoy exploring new places, trying different food, and spending time with my loved ones. I also enjoy the simple pleasure of staying home and having a quiet day to myself.

Something that might surprise you is that I used to play the erhu, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, for several years when I was in school. I don’t really play anymore, but it’s definitely a side of me that most people wouldn’t expect!

My picks would be teh peng and black sesame toast! They’re two of my favourites on the menu.

“Why need so many people?”

“What is everyone doing? One take orders, one serve, one washes?”

We hear this quite often. If you didn’t say it, someone probably did while waiting for their food… or by just looking at the queue 😅

At first glance, it may look simple, just kopi and toast. But behind the counter, every person has a role to make sure your order comes out right, fast, and still warm.

When we first started, our dad James did everything from memory. No systems, no screens, just pure experience and instinct. When we took over, it was pen and paper everywhere, scribbling orders as fast as we could while trying not to mix things up.

Now we’ve moved onto a more organised system, so orders are clearer, things move faster, and mistakes are kept to a minimum. Still the same stall, just a bit more “fast hand fast leg” behind the scenes.

From one-man show to full team effort, a lot has changed over the years. But the heart hasn’t changed: just trying our best every single day to get your kopi siu dai, teh peng less ice, yuan yang c kosong and Kaya toast, with less spread, out right. 😊
