In Farang’s rejuvenated space, art and design hold a special place. Meet Andrea Karlsson, the furniture designer behind Andrea Karlsson and the paper lamps lighting up the dining hall and graces table 99.

“Farang has a clear concept both throughout its menu and interior, and I was excited to work with their established language while also adding my own expression to it.”

Think of a crystal chandelier, reimagined in paper. Cut-out triangles of washi, carefully folded and glued together into a large geometric pendant. A softer kind of sparkle, with a warm glow and plenty to catch your eye between courses.

The starting point? A folding technique Andrea had explored in wood veneer for smaller lamps. For Farang, she turned to paper, echoing traditional rice-paper lanterns while bringing her own approach to the shape and construction. Every fold matters. Every connection catches the light.

“When sitting close to it I hope that besides providing a warm glow it invites further interest, both of its construction and texture but also its imperfections.”

Look a little closer. Then look over towards the bar, where two smaller lamps share the same design language. A few things to discover next time you’re here.

Meet Kim Öhman, the restaurateur behind Farang Stockholm. After 13 years in the same space, he had a few ideas. Quite a few, as it turns out.
“We’ve come to know the space well and recognise its potential. We’d wanted to explore that sooner, and now the time felt right.”

Think soaring ceilings, more art and a lively bar that’s very much part of the dinner conversation. And on the table? A little more room to follow your appetite.

“It’s largely about giving guests more freedom to shape their own evening. Now we want to give à la carte equal emphasis.”

A few smaller dishes to share. The full tasting menu. Another round and that one dish you’ve been eyeing at the next table. Or gather the whole gang in one of our new private dining rooms. Your company, your evening, your call. Of course, some things were never up for discussion.

“The scent of lime leaves and lemongrass as you walk through the door is as much a part of Farang as the warm, personal service.” And yes, the caramel pork is staying.
