Our coffee packaging rebranding is slowly underway. It will all be done by early autumn this year, and we will, of course, come back to present that. We will have a little gap in the 1000g bags packaging. Same coffee on the inside.

In the meantime, we will have temporary packaging for 1000g, but it is still the same coffee on the inside.

So this is how the temporary 1000g bags will look, only until the new design comes.

This week and next week we are doing a small and exclusive lot only for the cafe. It is as small as a 40 kilo Batian varietal from Floripondio in the Samiapata area in Bolivia.

At the farm, it is growing a lot of Floripondio flowers, hence the name. The flower is thought to have hallucinogenic effects, but it also symbolises change and new beginnings.

A decade ago, the Batian variety was bred by Kenya’s Coffee Institute. Since then, it has successfully been propagated throughout Kenya. The Batian is designed to be resistance to rust and disease yet keeping its berry driven taste profile. And now, we are slowly starting to see producers outside of East Africa, both in the central and South America, trying it out and discovering its qualities. So as this is only a 40 kilo lot, we are keen to have it and share it with our visitors at the café. For now, we got some boxes on the shelves and from mid next week it will be on the filter coffee menu.

This is a rare opportunity. We are looking for a roaster to work full-time at our roastery in Rosersberg, Stockholm, starting immediately.

A lot of the coffee roasters’ work is a warehouse job. But it is also a job of sending out and receiving orders and being service-focused. And of course, there will be a lot of roasting and dispatching.

We are not sponsoring any visas, nor hiring from abroad for this position.

Send us a short letter to [email protected] about why you want to work at our roastery together with a CV, and we will arrange an interview for the successful candidates within the next couple of weeks. No hiring or CVs sent over Instagram will be considered and all questions will be answered via email.

Read more about the position on dropcoffee.com or follow the link in our bio.

Yesterday we brewed coffee for wine drinkers and wine producers at .
. Some were really keen on the idea that acidity in coffee can be a good thing. Some was probably not. Thank you for another year of having us, so much knowledge and tasty wines under one roof, dreaming about doing this in coffee one day.

Spring is in the air and we are preparing our outdoor seating as well as juicier drinks on the menu. One thing that suits the season well is that we currently alternate some 17g to 45g shots to explore how espresso can be juicier and show a broader spectrum of flavours.

We experience that the technology of espresso machines, but also now espresso grinders, is at a place where lighter roasts of coffee are easy to extract. We can now explore and experiment with different brew recipes for espresso. Coffee is a journey, and we have a clear idea of what we would like an espresso to be. And we will try to get there.

Every day we are cycling the espresso between all of the coffees we roast at the moment at the roastery. All of the roastery’s coffee is also on the filter coffee menu.

What I do when at the café drinking coffee is order one espresso and a filter coffee of the same coffee and see how big a range of the coffee’s character I can taste in both cups.

So happy to receive the award of Sweden’s best roaster of the year by .nordics at today.

I would like to dedicate this prize to the ones who have been working with us long-term. To all of the Drop team, to Lisa, who has worked for us for 11 years, tomorrow. And our coffee producing partners, many of whom we have worked with for over a decade now. To subscribers and Drop coffee drinkers at home. And to the wholesale cafes who we have held a great trust and joy in working together for years. Therefore, we are almost as happy to see the hardworking and talanted Arne of  bring home the prize as the best barsita in Norway this year.
Tack /Joanna

Early morning start brewing cowboy coffee (kokkaffe) at . It is located right at the Hägestensåsen metro station here in Stockholm. Knowing Peter, who is allergic to single-use materials, it is now a big deal for him to start to serve takeaway. Although just like at Drop, we appreciate you bringing your own takeaway cup if you have one and remembering to bring it.

Our society is moving fast, and I am impressed by all the wholesale partners around the world we have the honour to work with as a roastery, and to their commitment to running cafés and not only serving and putting the hard work and skills into serving phenomenal coffee, but also creating places for their locals to sit down, let their shoulders down and enjoy the coffee. Running cafés is a beautiful thing, like a little room that is alive from morning to late noon and where you get to host. But it is also a lot of hard work and small margins, and each time you, as a guest visits one, it matters. Take out or stay in.
