I received an order for “Kimbap” and “Korean fried chicken” for the 2nd anniversary event of the youth club "Hallyu House," which is filled with teenagers passionate about Korean culture. About 34 organizers and dancers, along with 120 guests, enjoyed a festive celebration. I greeted the organizers and took a moment to watch the event. As a Korean, I felt incredibly proud—Korea is truly a cultural powerhouse! I think "Dosirak" and "Hallyu House" could do something fun together in the future!

This weeks menu is Maekjeok(맥적), marinated pork in Doenjang (된장Korean fermented soybean paste) which dates back to early Korean history long before chili peppers were introduced to Korea. Maek refers to people of Goguryeo (고구려), one of the three ancient Kingdoms, and jeok means skewered meat. Maekjeok evolved over time, and it’s believed to be the origin of today’s bulgogi. Over 1000 years later during Joseon Dynasty, it was served in Royal Court.
