Cannoli is a traditional Sicilian dessert from Italy. The crisp, tube-shaped shells are traditionally fried and filled with sweet, creamy ricotta, often made from sheep’s milk. The name cannoli means “little tubes” in Italian. They are believed to have originated in Sicily around the city of Caltanissetta and were once associated with Carnival celebrations.

Classic cannoli are often finished with pistachios, candied orange peel, chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar. For the best texture, they’re usually filled just before serving so the shell stays crisp.

We might not have cannoli on the menu, but we do have plenty of other Italian sweets worth saving room for. Welcome to Tavolo!
