The Story Behind the Oak Radius Console
Sometimes the simplest-looking designs hide the most intricate craftsmanship.
It all started when an architect from Porto Konstantin Kryukov reached out to us to build a custom console based on his own original design. Once we aligned on the technical ex*****on, we jumped right into production.
On paper, it looks clean and understated—but behind that minimalism lies a series of subtle technical challenges.
Take the sweeping side curves: they are custom hand-bent using natural oak veneer.
The rounded legs, crafted from solid oak, echo those smooth radii to give the piece a grounded yet refined structure.
To ensure the console felt completely cohesive, we matched the vertical grain of the drawer fronts with the curved sides, slicing everything from the exact same sheet of veneer.
The drawers themselves are also built from natural oak veneer, featuring integrated solid-wood handles seamlessly embedded into the fronts, and eco-leather lined bottoms color-matched to the body.
The finishing stage was a story in itself. To match the client’s existing flooring in Porto, the architect sent us a sample, which we forwarded to a specialized finish company in Portugal to create a custom stain.
When it arrived, it turned out to be a water-based stain—notoriously difficult to apply evenly.
It required precise work using a spray gun, but the final result was spot on.
Once packed, we shipped the console off to Porto, where it is currently waiting for the custom natural stone top to be installed. As for us—we’re patiently waiting for the final photos of the completed project!
