Moss ❤️

Why We Should Let Moss Be

We often dismiss moss as dirt. We scrape it off walls, sidewalks, and tree trunks, seeing only disorder.

But moss is far more than decoration, it’s a living climate ally. It grows without soil, feeding directly from rain and air. On stone, brick, bark, even rooftops, it thrives.

Tiny though it is, moss packs a punch. It cools cities by releasing moisture, filters pollutants from the air, and shelters entire micro-ecosystems beneath its soft layers.

In some species, it can even capture carbon as efficiently per square meter as young forests.

Yet we remove it, simply because it doesn’t fit our manicured idea of beauty.

Moss is not a w**d. It’s protection, quietly working for our planet. Let it grow. Let it breathe. Let it live.

Weeding my Maidenhair Fern Garden

Naturally growing around Ju Li Farms, the Maidenhair fern (Adiantum species) is a delicate and elegant type of fern known for its unique appearance and graceful foliage.

The fronds or leaves are light, fan-shaped, and bright green, with a soft, lacy texture.

The stems are thin, wiry, and typically dark brown to black, providing a striking contrast to the fronds.

Its growth habit is like strawberry plants, it forms small clumps that spread slowly, making it popular as an ornamental plant.

They are usually found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, often in moist, shaded areas.

It prefers humid environments, such as near waterfalls, riverbanks, or forest understories.

If you want to grow Maidenhair fern as houseplants, here are the things you need to consider.

1. Light: thought it needs bright light space right, you should avoid putting them on direct harsh sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
2. Water: they love to be consistently moist but not soggy soil. They are also sensitive to drying out.
3. Humidity: it thrives in high humidity which means they are ideal for bathrooms, terrariums, or with a humidifier.
4. Temperature: they prefer cool to moderate temperatures so avoid drafts or extreme heat.

Here are Maidenhair ferns uses & symbolism.

1. Ornamental Plant: it is a popular indoor plant for homes, offices, and gardens due to its airy, elegant look.
2. Symbolism: in some cultures, it represents purity, beauty, and protection.
3. Medicinal or traditional medicine: some species have been used in folk remedies for respiratory issues, hair care, and skin health, though these uses aren’t scientifically verified.

There you go. Happy farming everyone!
