story time: 🥹
Usually, when I make a swing cake, the celebrant is the only one sitting on the swing.
So when I got this client’s brief, I got SO excited because ang pagkaintindi ko, katabi niya sa swing yung dog.🥹
It was my first time doing something like that, so aside from being excited, napaisip din ako, “Okay, paano ko patitibayin yung foundation nito?” 😂 Since dalawa na sila sa swing, mas mabigat na siya and I knew I had to make the structure extra sturdy.
So I went ahead and made the cake.
I sent the photo to my client, and then came the reply:
“Akala ko nasa side ng cake yung dog.” 🫠
BOOM.😂
And that’s when I realized…
I misunderstood the brief.
I think I got too excited with what I thought the client meant that I didn’t stop to clarify. I saw the idea in my head, got excited about creating something different, and just went with it.
By then, the dog was already fixed in place, so changing it wasn’t going to be easy.
I immediately apologized and admitted that I had misunderstood the instruction.
And thankfully, my client was SO kind about it. 🤍
Sabi niya okay lang daw, maganda pa rin naman yung cake, and she completely understood.
And honestly, that meant so much to me.
My realization?
Being human means we can make mistakes. But being a professional also means knowing how to own up to them, apologize sincerely, and take responsibility.
Hindi excuse ang “nagkakamali lang tayo kasi tao tayo.”
But mistakes will happen. What matters is how we handle them when they do.
And sometimes, we’re also lucky enough to meet people who choose to understand instead of making the mistake bigger.
So, to my lovely client, thank you for being so kind and understanding. 🤍
And to everyone who continues to trust me with your special celebrations, thank you for your patience, your trust, and for allowing me to create, even when things don’t always go exactly as planned.🤍
xo, rach ♡
