TEASER 2: “STILL BREWING”

Tahimik. Walang signal. Wala ring kasiguraduhan.

Hindi ko na alam kung anong araw na.
Gutom na ‘yung tiyan ko. Pagod na ‘yung katawan ko.
Pero mas pagod na yata ‘yung isip ko.

Lakad ako nang lakad. Hanggang sa may naamoy ako.
Familiar. Mainit. Parang memoryang ayaw sumuko.
Kape.

Lumiko ako sa isang alley. Walang katao-tao.
Then I saw it—faint na glow sa loob ng abandoned convenience store.
May ilaw. May barista. Naka-hood. Di ko makita ‘yung mukha. Pero may hawak siyang tasa.
Nag-aabot.

Walang salita. Walang tanong. Walang bayad.
Mainit yung tasa. Mabigat. Buhay.

“Even in silence, we kept brewing,” sabi ng signage.
And for the first time in days, tumahimik ang isip ko.

"Akala ko katapusan na. Pero may nagtitimpla pa rin ng kape."

Bigla na lang namatay ang ilaw.
Nag-panic ang mga tao. May nagsisigawan. May nagtakbuhan palabas.
Sirens. Flickering lights. Para kang nasa pelikula.
Pero totoo ‘to.

Wala akong hawak kundi empty cart at cellphone na walang signal.
And in that eerie silence…
may amoy akong pamilyar.
Mainit. Mabango. Kape.

Lumakad ako pa-aisle.
Madilim. Maalikabok. Pero sa dulo, may ilaw.
Isang kiosk lang ang may buhay:
Dash Espresso.

Walang pila.
Walang tanong.
Tahimik lang ‘yung barista—parang alam niyang kailangan ko ‘yun.
Inabot niya ‘yung tasa.

“Your last great coffee,” sabi ng sign.

At sa gitna ng gulo, ‘yun lang ang nagpakalma sa akin.
