A friend once told me about a memory of going out to eat with his parents. When they got to the restaurant, they unexpectedly ran into some people they knew.
This was before social media, when you didn’t always know where everyone was. There was something special about unexpectedly bumping into friends or family, sitting together, and sharing a meal.
It was an ordinary moment, but the kind of moment you never realize you should cherish until much later. Then he told me something that stayed with me...He is the only person from that table who is still alive.
Over the past two years, we’ve been welcoming more and more dine-in guests at Meshwe. More families are coming in, sitting down, and sharing a meal with us.
We started out as a food stall, and for the longest time, we focused mostly on delivery, pick-up, and takeout. It wasn’t until we moved to our current location that we slowly started becoming more of a sit-down restaurant (we’re still polishing the service!).
Lately, we’ve noticed more people choosing to dine in at Meshwe, and honestly, it warms our hearts. We know we’re not a full-service restaurant, so we truly appreciate that you still choose to spend your time and share a meal with us.
We’re especially grateful for those who make the trip on weekends, from as far south as Lucena and Batangas, and from the North (Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and even Zambales).
Knowing that many of you have travelled that far just to eat at Meshwe means a lot to us. It reminds us to keep doing our best, stay consistent, and give you a meal worth the trip.
A lot of you who live nearby come to Meshwe almost every day. Thank you for making us a constant in your lives, and for making us your third space.
Over the years, we’ve hosted so many first dates, reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, and all kinds of celebrations.
In the span of 14 years, it has been such an honor and a blessing to witness and be a small part of your special moments. We’ve watched young couples get married, have children, and eventually bring those children back to Meshwe as they grow older.
But we’ve also seen the other side of it. The empty seat at a table. A familiar face that’s no longer there.
It breaks our hearts, and it’s a kind of grief I never knew we could feel as a restaurant. Because somewhere along the way, you stopped being just customers. You became part of our story, too.
I’ve lost people at my own table as well. How I wish I could share just one more meal with them. Cook for them one more time. Or have them cook for me one more time.
So here’s to 14 years of blessings. I’m grateful to God that I get to do this. That I get to feed people, share in their moments, and make room at my table for others.
Thank you for letting us be part of yours
