Legend has it that, during the French reformation, a hiding priest from Brie, Abbot Charles-Jean Bonvoust, taught her a recipe for a cheese with a bloomy rind. Although Bonvoust came from Pays de Caux, this legend has been widely accepted as true.

However, it’s true that Marie was a known cheesemaker for her camembert cheese and had driven her community’s entrepreneurial spirit to produce this kind of cheese which has widely revered by Kings.
