A Short Story of Faith, Leadership, and Purpose
Some people are born into comfort.
Others are born into circumstances that teach them how to fight for every dream.
Yi Mica’s story was never about having an easy road. It was about continuing to walk when the road became difficult.
She knew what it meant to struggle. She knew what it felt like to have dreams bigger than her circumstances. There were moments when the future was uncertain, when resources were limited, and when giving up would have been easier.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Not because she was never afraid.
Not because she never became tired.
But because she believed her life had a purpose greater than her struggles.
𝗦𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗
Long before becoming a businesswoman, leadership was already becoming part of her life.
As a young woman, she learned that leadership was not about standing above people.
𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.
It was about responsibility.
Service.
Discipline.
And having the courage to continue even when nobody could guarantee the outcome.
Those lessons would eventually follow her beyond the Philippines and into South Korea, where she would build another chapter of her life far away from everything familiar.
𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗔 𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗧𝗢 𝗨𝗞𝗠
In 2019, Yi Mica began what would become UKM Express Cargo.
It was more than a business.
Behind every shipment was sacrifice.
Behind every customer was trust.
Behind every expansion was another risk she had chosen to take.
What began as a vision grew into an operation connecting South Korea and the Philippines through cargo, warehousing, sourcing, wholesale, and international business.
She did not build it overnight.
She built it through years of showing up.
Through mistakes.
Through pressure.
Through criticism.
Through long days when stopping would have been easier.
And through faith when she could not see what would happen next.
𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦
But Yi Mica never wanted her story to end with the word CEO.
Because titles eventually disappear.
Money can be lost.
Businesses can change.
Recognition can be forgotten.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.
That is why her journey became connected to something deeper education, books, young people, community service, missions, and opportunities for others.
Her definition of success became simple:
𝗜𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗟𝗘
People may see the executive.
The business owner.
The leader.
The woman receiving recognition.
But they do not always see the nights of uncertainty behind the achievements.
They do not see every disappointment she carried quietly.
They do not see how many times she had to rebuild her confidence and continue.
That is the part of her story worth remembering.
Yi Mica did not become strong because life was always kind to her.
𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽
𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲.
𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘
If you are reading this while struggling with your own life, remember:
You do not have to have everything figured out today.
You can cry.
You can become tired.
You can rest.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Your beginning does not determine your ending.
Your struggles do not cancel your purpose.
And sometimes the chapter that almost breaks you becomes the chapter that teaches you how powerful your faith truly is.
Yi Mica’s journey is still being written.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful part.
Because this is not the story of a woman who has already reached the end.
