Bukidnon’s growing café culture is giving rise to something just as interesting.
We are seeing more spaces become places to stay, not just stop by. Coffee is still on the table, but now there is music in the background, local makers setting up nearby, friends catching up, families spending the afternoon together, and people discovering something or someone new along the way.
Café Clotilde in Anahawon, Maramag showed exactly what that can look like with Rhythm & Brews.
Held on September 12, the gathering brought together live music, food, coffee, and a small flea market in one easy Friday afternoon setup. Local artists Rise, Chied, Enfloeia, and Jayvee took the stage, while Oeuvre Mystique, Amoures Fleur Atelier, Beaded Burloloy, and Venice’s Crochet gave guests local finds to browse in between sets and conversations.
There was no pressure to follow a program or make a whole occasion out of it.
You could come in for coffee, hear a song you liked, check out a local maker, find friends already there, order another round, and stay a little longer.
And perhaps this is where Bukidnon’s café scene becomes more interesting. As more cafés open across the province, the opportunity is not only to give people more places to drink good coffee.
It is to create more spaces where local life can happen, where musicians can play, where makers can set up a table—and where people can meet without needing a celebration, an invitation, or a major event as an excuse.
Rhythm & Brews was one afternoon in Maramag, but we would love to see more of this around Bukidnon.
Because alongside a good coffee culture, there should be a good gather culture too with more music, more local talent, and more spaces to meet.
And sometimes, just a really good afternoon with nowhere else you need to be.
