Happening on Sept 27, 1-5 PM, at Good Food Sundays, Mandala Park, Mandaluyong: book launch of PANSAMANTALANG MUNDO: MGA AKDA NG MGA KABABAIHANG BILANGGONG POLITIKAL, 2024-2026. Co-published by Paper Trail Projects and KARAPATAN, this book contains poetry, narratives, recipes, comics, and countermaps by women cultural workers, human rights defenders, and community organizers unjustly held in detention for their activist work. The launch program will include a brief situationer on political prisoners in the Philippines by KARAPATAN and readings by former political prisoners. A letter writing session and zine expo will occur throughout the afternoon.

PANSAMANTALANG MUNDO was first launched at the UP Law Center in July as part of the LAYA CAMPAIGN TO FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS. All proceeds from the book will go toward the needs of political prisoners and the campaign for their freedom. Participants in the expo will also donate part of their earnings to the campaign. Please join us in learning about the state of Philippine prisons and the struggles of political prisoners, whose meaningful service to society is forcibly suppressed while corrupt officials roam free and evade arrest. Let’s support those deprived of the freedom we continue to enjoy, and do all that we can to help secure their release.
