๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ข (ใฆใพใ) are traditional Japanese embroidered balls celebrated for their intricate geometric designs, vibrant silk threads, and deep cultural symbolism. The word temari literally means โhandball,โ and while they are admired today as refined decorative art, their origins were humble.
Temari developed during the Edo period, when mothers would repurpose scraps of old kimonos into tightly wound balls for their children to play with. Over time, what began as a simple toy evolved into a sophisticated textile art form. Artisans began wrapping the core with fine threads and embroidering elaborate, symmetrical patterns that required precision, patience, and mathematical accuracy.
