Bird's Nest Soup, or locally known as Nido Soup, gets its name from El Nido, a town in Palawan that literally translates to The Nest. The soup is made from the nest, primarily built by the Palawan Swiftlet with its saliva. The bird is popularly known in the Philippines as Balinsasayaw.
The Bird's Nest is used in traditional Chinese medicine for its rich content of glycoproteins, amino acids, and Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). It is believed to boost the immune system, rejuvenate skin by promoting cell regeneration, and soothe respiratory issues.
