Every name has a story.
Behind Daddy G Cafe is not a fictional character or a carefully crafted brand. It is the story of Gary Monakil; a husband, a father, an engineer, and the man whose values continue to shape this café today.
Gary spent his career as an electrical engineer, eventually becoming the manager of NAPOCOR’s operations in Cavite. While his profession earned him respect, those closest to him knew him simply as a man guided by integrity, discipline, and unwavering love for his family.
He raised his two sons to value hard work over shortcuts, purpose over excess, and gratitude over material things. They were taught that having enough was often more meaningful than having more.
There was, however, one simple pleasure Gary rarely denied himself: coffee.
Long before Daddy G Cafe existed, countless family conversations happened around café tables. Coffee became the backdrop for stories, laughter, advice, and moments that would later become treasured memories. It was never just about the drink, it was about being together.
In 2023, the Monakil family faced one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. After a successful heart bypass surgery, Gary suffered a subdural hematoma during his recovery, leaving him with severe brain injury and limited mobility.
Yet through faith, perseverance, and the support of those around him, Gary survived.
As life changed, so did the family’s routines. If Gary could no longer visit the coffee shops he loved, perhaps they could bring that experience home.
From that simple idea, Daddy G Cafe was born.
What started as a place built for one father would soon become a place where an entire community could gather, connect, and create memories of their own.
