Chums Restaurant started with a group of friends who dreamed of building a business to earn during the pandemic.
They began by taking over an establishment in Rosario, Cavite renovating it, and changing almost everything to fit the motif.
Chums started operating Oct. 30, 2020 and gained recognition, attracting regular customers.
Unexpectedly, on March 9, 2021, the entire store burned down, leaving nothing but ashes.
Chums made an effort to reopen beside the burned-out location although it was smaller compared to the original. Chums started operating again until they found a space in Bacao, General Trias . Began renovations and developed a new concept and started operating on July 25, 2021.
Before the Chums Restaurant Rosario First Branch burned down, one of the founders was left alone to continue the venture. With no experience in the food industry, she pushed herself to do everything possible to keep the business running and improve what needed improvement.
When starting the Chums Restaurant Bacao Branch in General Trias a significant investment was made to enhance and almost completely change the concept. A team was built to introduce new food and drink options. The owner never anticipated that customers would flock to the restaurant from the very beginning. Due to the pandemic, there were frequent closures, and operations were halted for several months. A large amount of money was spent, and despite the challenges, the owner did not give up; instead, she stayed patient and waited to restart operations.
Upon reopening, it was unexpectedly busy, with people visiting Chums Restaurant. It was situated among well-known dining establishments like Chowking, McDonald's, Jollibee, Kenny Rogers and KFC, attracting a steady stream of customers.
Due to the influx of customers and constant lines, she took over the adjacent vacant space, transforming it into an extension and event space on March 2022. She also added acoustic singers to enhance the restaurantโs appeal.
Eventually, the owner decided to expand and sought out investors. This is how the Chums Restaurant Bacoor branch was established in November 14, 2024.
Operations continue despite various challenges. The owner is determined to find solutions and keep moving forward. Running a business is no joke; there are many mistakes along the way, but instead of giving up, she rise and start over until everything is okay.
Now the owner began laying the groundwork for something bigger: a franchise. A vision of a Chums Restaurant that could travel farther, touching more lives with every bite.
She rented space for an office and a mini-Chums Restaurant as a step toward whatโs nextโpreparing to welcome partners who share passion and mission and opening soon on April 10, 2026.
