UNIFIED 911 CALL TRIGGERS PNP RESCUE OF MINOR IN PASAY

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., responded to an emergency involving a male minor in Pasay City on August 16, 2026, after a call for assistance was received through the Unified 911 system, a nationwide emergency response service under the Department of the Interior and Local Government led by Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr.

PNP personnel from Pasay City Police Station–Sub-Station 10 immediately responded to a residential high-rise building in Barangay 76, Zone 10, where the minor was found at a 12th-floor hallway window and allegedly attempting to jump amid a family problem.

Responding police officers secured the area and worked with the EOD-RDC-DMFB, Southern Police District, Bureau of Fire Protection-Pasay City, building security personnel, and the Barangay 76 Rescue Medical Team to safely bring the minor to a secure location.

The minor was successfully rescued and brought to the building’s Security Office for initial assessment, where he was found in stable condition. He was later turned over to Barangay 76 personnel in the presence of his relatives for appropriate assistance and disposition.

“Our priority in every emergency is to protect life and create a safe path toward help. This response shows why immediate police action matters when every second counts,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Ang mga kabataan ay nangangailangan ng pang-unawa at gabay sa harap ng mga problema. Bilang mga pulis, tungkulin nating makinig at kumilos agad upang maiwasan ang kapahamakan,” he added.

PNP RUNS DOWN 2 REGIONAL WANTED PERSONS FACING SEXUAL OFFENSE CASES

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two regional-level wanted persons in separate operations in Batangas and Romblon on August 16, 2026, reinforcing its continuing efforts to locate individuals with standing warrants while ensuring that all arrests are carried out within the bounds of law and due process.

In Batangas City, personnel of the Batangas Component City Police Station Warrant Section arrested a Filipino male of legal age who is listed as a regional-level most wanted person. He is facing four counts of sexual abuse under a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 1 in Batangas City on March 28, 2016, with recommended bail set at ₱800,000.00. He is currently under police custody for proper documentation and disposition.

In Romblon, joint police personnel also arrested another Filipino male of legal age in Barangay Cambajao, Cajidiocan, who is listed among the region’s No. 3 wanted persons. He is facing three counts of qualified r**e under a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 106 in Sibuyan, Romblon, dated July 22, 2026, with no recommended bail. He remains in the custody of the Cajidiocan Municipal Police Station for proper proceedings.

FOUR EXCAVATORS WORTH ₱28M SECURED IN PNP OPERATION VS. ILLEGAL MINING

The Philippine National Police (PNP) secured four hydraulic excavators with an estimated combined value of ₱28 million during an operation against alleged illegal mining activities in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, August 17.

The operation was carried out in Sitio Sendong, Barangay Tumpagon by personnel of Police Station 8, in coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB-10) and barangay officials. The heavy equipment were found in an area showing signs of recent excavation and other mining-related activities.

The four excavators were secured for documentation and inventory and remain subject to technical verification and appropriate disposition by the MGB-10 in accordance with Republic Act No. 7942, or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, and other applicable regulations.

Some individuals reportedly present in the area left before police personnel could establish their identities. No arrests were reported in connection with the operation.

PNP ORDERS FULL INVESTIGATION INTO ZAMBOANGA CITY SCHOOL SHOOTING INCIDENT

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered a full investigation into the reported shooting incident at a private high school campus in Zamboanga City this morning, August 18, 2026.

Concerned units of the Zamboanga City Police Office, Regional Forensic Unit 9–Scene of the Crime Operations (RFU9-SOCO), Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Zamboanga City Field Unit are working together to establish the circumstances of the incident.

Investigators are currently gathering and validating information, while forensic personnel process the scene and secure evidence relevant to the investigation.

The PNP is also coordinating with the school and other concerned authorities to support the safety of those on campus and facilitate the proper handling of the situation.

PNP PROBES SHOOTING INCIDENT AT PRIVATE SCHOOL IN ZAMBOANGA CITY

569 POLICE, BPSOs TRAIN IN AIKIDO AS PNP BOOSTS PUBLIC SAFETY READINESS

Strengthening the ability of police personnel and community safety partners to respond with discipline, restraint, and sound judgment, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has underscored the value of practical capability-building through a month-long AIKIDO training conducted in Camarines Norte.

The training, implemented under Project M.A.G.I.L.A.S. (Magiting na Alagad ng Batas, Gabay at Inspirasyon upang Linangin nang Lubos ang Kaalaman sa AIKIDO para sa Ligtas na Sambayanan at Pamahalaan), ran from July 18 to August 17, 2026, at the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office in Daet.

A total of 569 participants took part in the program, including 119 PNP personnel and 450 Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSOs) from the province’s 2nd District. The training covered basic AIKIDO movements and techniques, along with practical exercises aimed at improving physical readiness, balance, coordination, situational awareness, self-discipline, confidence, and proper body control.

More than learning physical techniques, the training emphasized the importance of knowing how to respond appropriately and responsibly in situations that may require restraint and sound judgment. For police personnel, these skills contribute to operational preparedness and safer performance of duty, while for BPSOs, they provide additional capability in supporting police and community safety efforts at the local level.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the value of the training goes beyond physical preparedness, emphasizing that discipline and restraint are essential parts of effective public service.

“Hindi lang ito tungkol sa galaw o physical strength. Ang mas mahalaga, natututo tayong kumilos nang may control at tamang judgment. Sa trabaho natin, malaking bagay ang marunong kang rumesponde nang maayos at alam mo rin kung kailan dapat magpigil.”

TWO CTG MEMBERS ABANDON ARMED STRUGGLE, YIELD FI****MS IN BUKIDNON

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., facilitated the voluntary surrender of two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Talakag, Bukidnon on August 16, 2026, who also turned over fi****ms and live ammunition as they chose to return to the fold of the law.

Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10), through the 1004th Maneuver Company (MC) of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, facilitated the surrender of alias “Tagyao,” 35, and alias “Morsid,” 33, both residents of Barangay Lantud, Talakag, Bukidnon. The two were identified as Militia ng Bayan (MB) members of Platoon Fury, Sub-Regional Committee (SRC)-5, North Central Mindanao Regional Command (NCMRC).

Tagyao surrendered one caliber .38 revolver with two live .38 ammunition, while Morsid yielded one improvised shotgun with two live 12-gauge ammunition. The fi****ms and ammunition were turned over along with their decision to sever ties with the CTG.

The two previously served as part of the group’s support structure, providing food and other logistical requirements to CTG members. Their decision to surrender was influenced by former members in their community who had returned to the fold of the law and benefited from government programs and assistance, showing them a viable path toward rebuilding their lives.

PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that choosing peace gives former CTG members an opportunity to rebuild their lives while contributing to safer communities.

“Choosing to leave an armed group takes courage, and that decision can help prevent further conflict in the community,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Kung gusto nilang magbago, may pagkakataon silang magsimula ulit at mamuhay nang tahimik kasama ang kanilang pamilya,” he added.

The surrender reflects the PNP’s Enhanced Managing Police Operations priority under its Focused Agenda, reinforcing operational efforts to encourage the peaceful return of CTG members to the fold of the law and help strengthen security in communities affected by armed conflict.

PNP ENVIRONMENTAL DRIVE IN WESTERN VISAYAS YIELDS 204 ARRESTS, ₱16.18M IN RECOVERIES

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its campaign to protect the country’s forests and marine resources, as sustained operations in Western Visayas resulted in the arrest of 204 individuals and the recovery or confiscation of environmental resources and fishing-related items valued at more than ₱16.18 million from August 1 to 15, 2026.

During the period, police units across the region conducted 187 operations against violations involving forest resources and illegal fishing. These resulted in the recovery of lumber, charcoal, fish, and various fishing-related equipment and paraphernalia.

Of the total operations, 118 targeted illegal logging, leading to 58 arrests and the recovery of lumber and charcoal valued at more than ₱384,000.00. Meanwhile, 69 operations against illegal fishing resulted in 146 arrests and the recovery or confiscation of fish and fishing-related items valued at more than ₱15.8 million.

The PNP said the continuing campaign is focused on enforcing environmental and fisheries laws while helping protect legitimate livelihoods and the natural resources that sustain communities.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the police response must remain firm but responsible.

“May mga komunidad na umaasa sa ating likas-yaman, kaya kailangan natin itong protektahan. We will continue to enforce the law firmly, but always in a fair, responsible, and respectful manner.
