Today was supposed to be a celebration — the 4th anniversary of BNCafe. Instead, it’s a day filled with mixed emotions. Closing it down broke my heart. We built BNCafe from our dreams, our hard work, our sacrifices, our courage, our talents, and our love. It was like my own baby. Only God knows how painful it was to let it go, but I will forever be grateful to everyone who believed in us, supported us, and patronized what we built.
It has always been my dream to let my hometown experience the quality of products made from our family recipes — passed down by my grandfather, grandmother, auntie, and my mom — along with everything I learned from different chefs, from Filipino cuisine to international cuisine. I wanted everyone to experience all of it without breaking the bank, at a fair and reasonable price. I wanted to share the flavors I grew up with and the knowledge I gained through the years and I’ve learned a lot too.
My heart lifted with joy every time you shared your comments about our special menu. Since February, it has truly broken my heart to say “no” or “sorry” and turn down orders, especially from our valued regular customers and those requesting customized cakes and pastries. Every order used to make me excited, and many times I would give more than what was asked—because I always wanted you to have the best.
This season is usually one of our busiest months. We would prepare early, buy stocks in advance before prices increased, and do everything we could to keep our prices fair. Thinking about those moments makes me both emotional and hopeful. Someday—not too soon—we will come back stronger, wiser, and more knowledgeable.
To our dear customers who touched our hearts in your own special ways, thank you. Thank you for the trust, the support, and the love. We carry all of it with us. In God’s perfect timing, we believe there will be a new beginning. Inshallah. CAFE
