Our restaurant will be closed for dine in customers on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 5PM until 9PM for an exclusive event.

Deliveries via Grabfood and Foodpanda will operate as usual.

Dine in is still available from 10AM to 5PM, and from 9PM to midnight.

Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Cơm Tấm

It's amazing what people can invent out of scarcity and abundance, just like how vietnamese egg coffee was invented during a time when there was a shortage of milk.

In the case of Cơm Tấm, it was invented during a time when rice supply was limited, and people had to work with what was considered lowest class - broken rice (cơm = rice, tấm = broken).

The original street versions were simple - cooked broken rice and a small piece of thin grilled pork chop, served with some pickled vegetables. It was a meal for the masses.

But through the years, as Vietnam became more abundant, many sellers have added other toppings and sides to the once humble dish. Cơm Tấm Thập Cẩm (broken rice mixed with everything) became a thing.

Our version was inspired by Cơm Tấm Ba Ghiền, a Michelin recognized stall, known for their huge portions of Cơm Tấm Thập Cẩm.

Roti Gluay aka "Banana Pancake"

During our first five years in Sugbo Mercado and other food markets, the perpetual question was, "Where is the pancake?"

For those few years, Banana Pancake Trail ironically didn't have pancake on the menu. We focused on selling Pad Thai, Banh Mi, and Satay.

But when we opened our brick and mortar in 2020, we finally had it. Here are some inspirations from our past travels:

1. Our first try in Cambodia. Unlike in Thailand and other countries, they serve it rolled, almost reminiscent of our very own Turon. Very convenient to hold in one hand while strolling in Pub Street.

2. Bangkok and it's iconic style, cut up into squares. This was a random street cart on a random morning in Silom.

3. In Laos, they serve it flat and cut into squares, similar to thailand. But they do it wider. Like bigger-than-your-face wide. And they also have savory options. We tried a usual Banana Nutella and paired it with a Ham and Cheese Roti.

4. In our most recent trip to Siem Reap, we had the chance to try the 'turon-style' again. We should probably consider doing this in Cebu. 🙂

5. Our version for the past six years. Milo optional. Other variants coming very soon.

Depending on where you are in Southeast Asia, this dish may be called differently.

The dish might be traced back to Chinese roots, much like most food in Asia. In those parts, this is called Ban Jian Kueh. In Malaysia, it is known as Apam Balik. In the southern parts of Thailand, it's Khanom Thang Taek. Our very own Tarambulan in Mindanao is also a variant.

But it's probably Indonesia that deserves credit for putting this dish on the map, and pushing it to iconic status.

Martabak Manis, or just simply Martabak, is one of Indonesia's favorite street snack.

We took inspiration from the classic Indonesian recipe, combining sweet chocolate and condensed milk with salty cheese, enveloped in fluffy pancake, and cut into bite sized pieces.

It's easy to fall in love with Bánh Mì when you are in Vietnam.

Almost anywhere you go; in any province from the north to the south; the light, crusty bread is sold on bakeries and street carts, usually in its iconic sandwich form.

But the sandwich has evolved through the years, much like the bread itself is no longer the same bread that the French colonizers brought in decades ago.

Bánh Mì Chảo is one of the more recent, deconstructed versions. Usually eaten for breakfast, it includes egg, assorted meats that vary per vendor, and sauce, served on a hot plate with bread on the side.

Some fill their breads to make a sandwich, others break it up and dunk it in the pan. However which way, it's always delicious.

You can now try our version of Bánh Mì Chảo at BPT, and you don't even need your passport or a ticket to Vietnam!
