CFM FOOD MAKERS - PART III: The Kabog Millet Story & Community
Sagrada Pamilya Farm and Community Kitchen
Catmon Deli Vendors Association (CDVA), Barangay San Jose, Catmon, Cebu
The Experience: "Hands-on organic food preparation with Catmon organic farmers at their community kitchen and garden outpost featuring Slow Food ark of taste heritage crops and fruits for sampling."
The Feedback: I asked the Xynteo Leadership Vanguard Programme participants and organizers how their trip to Catmon was earlier in the day, and they - Marcela, Samara, Else, Ross, Stefan - started speaking all at once, gushing with praise. I could not catch it all, but here’s what I did pick up.
* “It was a farm to kitchen to table paradise.”
* “The food was absolutely fabulous.”
* “They were all so humble, but you could feel their passion and * their pride in what they had built.”
* “I loved the mother daughter teams. One young girl would be helping out and checking with her mother to see if it was done right. I am so glad to see the youth take an interest.”
* “I notice how active & strong the women are. How much women are at the forefront of things. Is that just in Cebu or is the whole country like that?”
* “I was so inspired. They showed me that there is so much you can do even with so little resources.”
* “I am so glad we went. It was perfect.”
Butche Estenzo, Catmon Councilor Vicente Orlanes Colonia and CDVA…you do us proud!
Thank you Sarah Queblatin, Renee Farrow and Xynteo for including the CDVA community in your series of leadership immersive experiences. And for not letting the rains deter you from making it there.
