Finca de Gabriela is located at 250 masl in a remote area in the unspoilt province of Bohol, an internationally renowned tourist destination in the Philippines. Our coffee farm is a micro-lot producer helping part of a far flung community employed and productive. We practice organic coffee farming, locally source most of our materials for our processes, and recycle our farm wastes in order to pres
erve our pristine environment. Our beans are produced and handled in accordance with established international standards of Specialty Coffee bean production for use by artisanal coffee shops. This involves individually red-ripe civet-picked berries the droppings of which were thoroughly cleaned & slowly dried to 11-12% MC, kept in industry standard Ultra Hermetic storage bags, then conditioned at 50% RH rooms prior to roasting. These steps are strictly followed to ensure that we preserve the mountain-fresh aroma and taste of the various fruit orchard surrounding the Finca imbibed on the coffee beans. This is on top of the extra exquisite note produced by the digestive tract enzymes of the civet cat. Truly creates a unique coffee cup experience for the discriminating coffee connoisseur! We produce our own Vermicast, Vermitea and Rhodopseudomonas Palustris for our fertilizer inputs. Our very own stingless bees, and other resident local bees, help in the pollination of our own coffee plants and the different trees in the Finca's various orchards. As a matter of practice, we allocated 5% of the land for flowering plants, nurturing them diligently, in order to feed these pollinators, including other beneficial predators, all year round. In instances where an imbalance in the ecological equilibrium between natural predators and pests occurs, organically accepted biological agents are employed (e.g., Metarhizium Anisopliae and Bauviera Bassiana). No pesticides or chemicals were used in the production of our beans. The Finca's specialty coffee was used during the 2018 Sandugo Festival by the Kape at Sikwate Kiosk at ICM, Bohol run by the different coffee and cake houses of Tagbilaran city (a few of which are winners in international competitions) and co-sponsored by DTI-Bohol. It also placed 11th out of 69 entries in the internationally-judged national 2021PCQC coffee competition garnering a score of 81.57 QRGrade Fine Robusta with a rare feat of Zero Defect SCAA grade standard.
11th out of 35 Fine Robusta qualifiers on the Finca’s first entry into a competition since it’s establishment. Truly a great coffee! From soil to bean to cup. Quality is our only business philosophy.
