why third place? ✨

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg coined the "third place" concept in his 1989 book The Great Good Place to describe essential social environments outside of home ("first place") and work ("second place").

These community-building hubs—such as cafes, pubs, libraries, and parks—are neutral, accessible, and informal spaces that foster conversation, relaxation, and a sense of belonging.
