Somehow, things just feel a little more familiar when you’ve been coming back for a while.

And honestly, that’s what we want to build at Kape Hoon-Tah — not just a place where you grab your coffee, but a place where people know you, remember you, and are genuinely happy to see you.

Because the goal was never just to make good coffee.

Surprisingly… 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.
And this is especially important when it comes to matcha.

A lot of people discover matcha expecting it to taste sweet, creamy, or almost like a dessert drink. But 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘆, 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁e—and that bitterness is part of its character.

A well-pulled espresso isn’t supposed to taste like chocolate milk. It can have bitterness, acidity, body, and other flavor notes depending on the beans and how it’s prepared.

The same goes for matcha. 🍵
Its natural bitterness doesn't automatically mean something is wrong with the drink. In fact, 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮, although its intensity can vary depending on the quality, preparation, and recipe.

So if you're trying our Matcha Series for the first time, we want you to know what to expect.

If you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side, our matcha may taste more intense than what you're used to—and that's okay! It's simply a different flavor profile.
