Rancho Norte Why is it a Rancho? Well, aside from the Western-inspired décor, this restaurant serves tapang kabayo. How do they taste, you might ask?

It is located along with Happy Tummy at the Ketchup Food Community, which we have heard has fast become a food hub of sorts for the locals. Aside from the aforementioned delicacy, it also offers other exotic meats such as Tapang Usa and Tapang Baboy Damo along with more standard fares as Boneless Daing na Bangus, Fried Bangkok Pusit, Tocino Special, and Thailand Daing. All these are included in th

e Rancho Norte All Time Favorites menu entry at only P118 a pop, including fried or plain rice, egg, and a serving of iced tea. They were in general, not gamey, tender, and really malasa. The meats come from as far away as Zambales, Palawan, and Manila. The more adventurous palates of the crew enjoyed the interesting meats, but the group consensus declared the crowd favorite (of four members) was the pinakbet with bagnet, with its fresh local vegetables and crunchy pork slices, the lethal combination of slightly salted crackling skin and melt-in-the-mouth fat. For dessert, we were served Banana Jubilee, a warm compote of bananas and chocolate sauce presented in a bowl made from fried lumpia wrapper.
