Inside a Public Art Sculpture

When my late father and I were executing his winning entry for a national competition held by Bonifacio Art Foundation in Bonifacio Global City ,in actuality, our structural engineer was impressed about how the art piece was built. We told him that we had consultations with a metallurgist and a former co-teacher who was
based in New York. He informed us that the material that was used for the body of the Statue of Liberty is the same as its armature. Then we learned from the metallurgist that corrosion would come quickly if two different kinds of metal were to be combined and welded together. We didn’t do that to my dad’s Ang Supremo, same with this current piece, The Flight of the Herons.

Here’s to a glorious morning starting from dad’s perpetual music to art that sustained needs on this earth and eventually back to the bliss of what nature has to offer. Thank you universe. A day in Montalban, Rizal.
