After a first look at the soft opening of the 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲, not only our guests and visitors but also 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 were left in awe and with new knowledge about pharmaceutical history.

With the museum located in the new Herbanext Innovation Center building, pharmacy student interns had the opportunity to explore the collection, with some having the privilege of preparing the write-ups of the artifacts in the museum for the soft launch.

Ms. Althea Dela Cerna, a pharmacy student intern from the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) said, “𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙛𝙖𝙧 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨. 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮.”

“𝘼 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮, 𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚. 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙛𝙖𝙧 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙨,” Ms. Hanna Ilaya, a pharmacy student intern from the University of San Agustin (USA), commented.

Another intern from UIC, Ms. Khrizanna Navarro, also complimented the museum tour as, “𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮.” She has also mentioned that this experience has deepened her respect for the pharmaceutical profession and its rich heritage.

Ms. Cielo Bringel from UIC also expressed her appreciation stating, “𝙄𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩.”

After being able to tour around the museum, another UIC intern, Ms. Kezia Anne Dane Suralta, commended the facility with the comment, “𝙄 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢, 𝙖𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚. Other interns who took part in the tour also expressed their enthusiasm for the Filipino cultural artifacts related to health and healing, spending time reading the descriptions, taking photos, and reflecting on our rich heritage.

The Museum of Natural Medicine and Pharmaceutical Heritage represents a major milestone for Herbanext, establishing the first museum dedicated to the evolution of medicine and creating a vibrant space where curiosity about our healing heritage can thrive.

Born out of 3 years of passion for preserving local heritage and teaching curious learners, the 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 finally held its soft opening last 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰. as part of the company’s 𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 celebration.

With a goal of not just being a place for preserving the past, but also an 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘂𝗯 for current and future generations, the Museum of Natural Medicine and Pharmaceutical Heritage allows visitors to trace pharmaceutical breakthroughs back to their natural roots.

The soft launch featured various exhibits, such as 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 and 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮 from different countries, 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀, and 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀. There were also interactive areas for guests, namely a 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 inspired by the 𝗚𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀' 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁 and a table to try to identify the scents of different 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗶𝗹𝘀.

While construction of this facility commenced in mid-2025, its vision and essence originated in 2023 with Herbanext's founder and president, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽 𝗦. 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇. With his unyielding dedication and steadfast companions over the years, what was once a vision has finally taken shape.

Following this successful soft launch of a portion of the museum, new and expanded areas will open in a few months, providing more space for learning and revisiting history.

In relation to this, the museum is currently 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 (pre-1970s) to be featured in the exhibit. If you are interested in donating an artifact or loaning it for display in the museum, please contact us at 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁.𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺@𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺.

Before the end of 2026, the Museum of Natural Medicine and Pharmaceutical Heritage will formally open its doors to the public, with more exhibits to look forward to that preserve the legacy of Filipino herbal and pharmaceutical medicine.
