โAsk and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to youโฆ If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!โ

Most of us twist this promise into something it never was. We think it means getting exactly what we wantโright now, exactly how we picture it. We think if we pray hard enough, or say the right words, every wish will be handed to us. And when things go differently, we think He did not hear, or He does not care.
But Jesus meant something far bigger. He meant you never have to hide your needs. You never have to pretend you are fine when you are breaking. You never have to be afraid to speak what you carry in your heart. He is not a stranger who ignores youโHe is your Father. Just as you would never give your child a stone when they ask for bread, He will never give you what will harm you just to answer fast.
Sometimes He waits because He is growing you to hold what He has ready. Sometimes He says โnoโ to what you want so He can give you what you actually needโsomething far better than you could ever imagine on your own. But one thing is always true: He hears every word. He sees every tear. And what He gives is always perfect, always right, and always for your good.
