We already knew they were amazing baristas but last Friday just proved it!

Stas and Zavier competed in the 2026 Aotearoa Barista Open in Wellington and Stas walked away as runner up and Zavier for making it through to the semi-finals.

The Barista Open is a fast-paced, head-to-head knockout competition. Two baristas compete at a time. One progresses. The rounds are short, clear, and easy to follow.

Each match included
A one-minute introduction where baristas can show personality and connect with the crowd
A three-minute dial-in and setup
A five-minute beverage round serving espresso, dairy milk, and alternative milk
A one-minute clean-down, just like real service
Judging is done side by side, with transparent paddle decisions announced live.

The focus is on taste, presentation, and overall experience rather than lengthy technical scoring sheets

We've got a huge lineup for Wellington on a Plate in August.

First up, our burger FFS which is available from 3rd - 23 August.

Beer-battered moki, with shredded iceberg lettuce and tartare in a Food Envy brioche bun.

The name FFS is intentionally misleading. While it appears to say one thing it actually stands for Fish Finger Sandwich

Next we're hosting Delivereasy for Talk of the Table. They'll be bringing together a range of Wellington On a Plate burgers in one place, so you and your mates can try multiple festival burgers without the usual logistical mission. Add free delivery, Double Vision Brewing festival beer matches and bar snacks and you've got a good night ahead. Tue 11 Aug, Wed 12 Aug, Thu 13 Aug, 5pm - 10pm.

Last, but certainly not least we have Trivial Indulgence with Sugar Flour and Laser Kiwi, the world's only surreal sketch circus, for a five-course dessert tasting menu with a twist.
