Not the news I wanted to give you all…
You may have seen my old post where I had given the dates I was taking off to bring out new shiny things for you all.
New menu, new recipes, new packaging and even a new way to order. The following are a few reasons why I am having to extend this time without a clear idea of when I’ll be able to reopen…
I ordered a new piece of equipment which was instrumental in the release of new recipes and would facilitate a huge increase in the volume of food I can make. Unfortunately it arrived faulty and I’m unable to get any kind of replacement until early 2027. To make matters worse the boss of said business has sadly passed away. We’re making progress on a solution but I want to treat this situation with my utmost respect.
As the new equipment is non responsive, the new menu I had planned may need to be amended, which will need to be resubmitted to the company who are making the new self serve ordering system. Even adding a single picture to Uber Eats takes up to 3 days, so an adjustment of this size will cause delays.
Bespoke packaging has a lead time of 4-12 weeks. Yes it can be up to 3 months for some things. I’m not going to close for 3 months but I had hoped to bring all these new things out at the same time because, you know, you deserve nice things.
The domino effect is that I don’t know the dimensions of packaging I’ll need, because I don’t know what these new recipes will look like, because I can’t make anything on my big new shiny machine, and I don’t know how much I’ll need to charge (on the new menu system) because I’ve no idea how long things will take on the new toys.
Reading this back it does sound like a bit of a rant, but I’m not looking for sympathy. I’ve always tried to be upfront and honest about everything here at Zodiac, this is just the current landscape I’m navigating.
I am genuinely fizzing to share with you all of the things I’ve been working on and feel so lucky to have you all.
I will figure something out for you. But for now I’ll sign off and go enjoy the sun because today is my Birthday.
