What an amazing night we had on Monday at the cuisinegoodfood awards. So great to celebrate all the good things happening in the NZ food scene. Feels like an exciting era coming with so many great new restaurants and lots to celebrate. We are extremely proud to have retained 2 hats. It takes a lot of people doing a lot of things right to make this possible. Immensely proud of the incredible team we have at kika, your dedication blows me away. Special thanks to K E L L I B R E T T Kerry Tyack and everyone Cuisine Magazine for giving us this accolade. We are deeply saddened by the passing of our good friend Sam Neill.

A wonderful, kind,and generous man. An incredible actor and a true gentleman. We have loved all the collaborations we’ve shared over the years.

Our thoughts are with his family and his extended family at Two Paddocks Vineyard.

Appreciation post! I want congratulate head chef and co owner of arc Sam Cooper (left) and brother Josh Cooper on the amazing achievement of getting arc onto the Michelin Guide. Sam and I met 8 years ago when I employed him as head chef of kika. A couple of years later we decided to open arc together and Sam became the head chef of arc, we switched things up to put on a tasting menu a few years ago and Sam has been creating delicious menus ever since. A great acknowledgment for these guys hard work and they deserve all the credit.special mention to our fantastic front of house manager Rachel Hellested. From me and all the team at kika we salute you! Shame you couldn’t be at the awards but this one was all you buddy!

I want to start by thanking everyone for all of the kind messages today it’s been crazy, what a wonderful and overwhelming night we had yesterday. Getting a Michelin star was something I never thought possible for my career, you just cook the food you love and hope people enjoy it. After hearing about Michelin being in NZ you start to think it could be a possibility but that’s it. My dream as a young chef became a reality last night and we received 1 Michelin star, I’m stunned and absolutely delighted. I’m so proud of our team at kika past and present and I owe all the gratitude in the world to them and their amazing work. It’s been a challenging year balancing restaurant life with the addition of my 1st child so this feels extra special. Huge congratulations to all the other restaurants that were recognised, we also managed to pick up a spot on the guide for our sister restaurant arc and a Bib Gourmand for Paloma. What a night!

Tonight is our final night before we close for a well-earned break until the 18th of June.

Thank you for all your support so far this year. We’ll be taking some time to recharge before returning refreshed and ready for a fantastic ski season.

Very exciting news! We are pleased to announce that we are offering our kika club members a 15% discount over the coming weeks starting tomorrow!!
