Our Little Community Is Growing ❤️☕️

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming our second group of tamariki to Fat Cat Street Coffee — and what a beautiful morning it was! 🥰

Seeing the children walk through our doors, choose their kai, use their voices, make their own choices and enjoy time together was incredibly special. These little moments are exactly what community is about. ❤️

And we have some exciting news…

Our community breakfast visits are officially filling up! 🎉

We honestly didn’t expect the schedule to become so full, but we are absolutely loving it.

✨ Next Wednesday — Round Three!
We can’t wait to welcome our next group of tamariki and create another morning of happy memories together.

And we still have Tuesday coming up with Te Kohanga Reo o Opopoti — another very special group we are looking forward to welcoming into the Fat Cat family. 🥰

From little conversations at the counter to choosing their own kai, from learning to laugh and share to simply enjoying being together — these experiences may seem small, but they can create memories that stay with children for a long time.

Fat Cat Street Coffee isn’t just a place for coffee.
It’s a place for our community to meet, connect, learn, laugh and create memories. ❤️

A Little Update From Fat Cat Street Coffee

We’ve noticed a few conversations recently about businesses for sale at Maungatapu Shopping Centre, so we just wanted to say a little something from us.

First of all, thank you to everyone who has been asking, checking in and showing concern about our little café. Your support really means a lot to us.

Just to clear up any confusion — Fat Cat Street Coffee is not for sale, and our business is doing well. The business currently being sold is our neighbouring bakery 🥯, not us.

And while we’re here, we thought we’d share a little bit about what we’re planning for this year.

Last year, we had so much fun with Tutu Tuesday, Book Character Dress-Up Days, Cowboy Hat Days and all the other little things that made our café a bit different. We loved seeing everyone joining in, having fun, taking photos and creating memories together.

This year, we want to put our energy into something a little different — support, donations and fundraising for our local daycares, kindergartens and schools.

Because we believe a café can be more than just a place to grab a coffee.

We may be a small local café, but we’ve always believed that small things can make a difference.

We love being part of this community. We love seeing familiar faces walk through our door, watching families grow, seeing children excited about our little events, and knowing that our café has become part of people’s everyday lives.

So this year, our goal is simple:

Keep making good coffee.
Keep creating happy moments.
Keep supporting our local community.
And keep doing the things we love.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that remind us how special our café community really is.

Today, Hannah received this beautiful handwritten note from one of our lovely customers, simply saying thank you for her smile, friendliness and kindness every time they come in for brunch.

Hannah has been part of Fat Cat Street Coffee for many years, and she truly is one of those wonderful young people who brings warmth, kindness and a genuine smile to our café every day. We are so lucky to have her as part of our team.

And to our customers，thank you. Thank you for noticing our team, for being so kind to them, and for supporting them as much as you support us.

A café is more than coffee and food. It’s the people, the little conversations, the familiar faces, the smiles and the memories we create together.

Giving Back to Our Community

Today was a very special morning at Fat Cat Street Coffee.

We are incredibly grateful for the support our local community has shown us. One of the ways we can give something back is by opening our doors and creating experiences that bring people together.

Today, we were so excited to welcome the first group of tamariki from Maungatapu Preschool for a free breakfast morning. Seeing their happy faces, little conversations and excitement as they ordered their own kai made the morning truly special.

For us, it was never just about providing breakfast.

It was about creating an experience.

It was about giving tamariki the opportunity to step into a café, make their own choices, practise confidence and communication, and experience something new within their own community.

And for us, it was a reminder of why we love what we do.

What can we offer?What can we change?What can we create?

We believe a local café can be more than just a place to eat and drink.

We are proud to be part of the Maungatapu community, and we feel incredibly lucky to meet so many wonderful people through our little café.

Today was one of our busiest Sundays ever.

Firstly, thank you to every customer who chose to spend part of your weekend with us.

During our busiest rush, some meals took much longer than usual, and we know some of you waited close to an hour. We sincerely apologise for the delay.

Please know that our kitchen team never stopped.

Every member of our team was working as fast and carefully as possible to make sure every meal left the kitchen fresh and to the standard we want to serve. With so many orders arriving at once, the wait became much longer than we would ever like.

We truly appreciate your patience, your understanding, and the kindness many of you showed our team today. It means more than you know.

We're always learning and looking for ways to improve so we can serve you better, especially on our busy Sundays.

Good food takes time, but your patience means everything to us.

Guess where I am?

On my way to Auckland to see my baby boy. No matter how old he gets, he'll always be my baby because I love him with all my heart.

Just like the love I have for my café, I truly appreciate everything in my life. The sunshine, the little moments, the journey. Sometimes all it takes is looking at life from a different perspective to see how beautiful it really is.

Enjoy life in your own way. Slow down, try seeing things differently, and you might discover beauty where you least expect it.
