We are back with New Zealand King Salmon!

Hi Everyone,

We are back with New Zealand King Salmon after two weeks of trial with Tasman Salmon (from Australia).

-Background-
When we started our business 7 years ago, the NZ salmon price was $19.99 per kilo at major supermarkets, now it is about $58.00 a kilo. Until 3 weeks ago, we had been supplied at slightly cheaper than supermarket price as we buy that in bulk at a time. But our suppliers recently increased NZ salmon price to $74 - $80 per kilo which is significantly higher than supermarket prices. One of our reputable suppliers suggested an alternative to NZ salmon, that is Tasman salmon. We went with Tasman salmon for the last two weeks. The reviews were quite mixed, but one customer showed quite discontent about the Tasman salmon taste.

We are not currently buying NZ salmon from our usual suppliers, but buying and will try to buy directly from NZ salmon farms.

If we can not source NZ salmon and have to use Tasman salmon instead, then we will put a sign on the display 'Tasman Salmon', so that customers could know what they are getting.

Happy New Year Everyone,

After a summer break, we reopened on 15th January.

As usual, we have some delicious sushi, Donburi, Ramen, Udon menu, and more.

Our trading hours are 10am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday. We close our shop at 7:30pm (no more sushi at 7pm, but we might take other meal orders until 7:20pm). We close on public holidays.

We welcome phone orders, please call 07-562-8552.

We have a small website, matakite.co.nz, for meal menus (Donburi, Udon & Ramen). Once orders are completed, we will notify customers through email, so that customers can pick it up as soon as they are ready.
