Today in Crow Tavern history we go back to 1907.
The Dwan Brothers were prominent Wellington businessmen, hotel brokers and estate agents who operated a highly successful agency starting from 1879.
The Dwan Brothers purchased the freehold of the Crow Tavern (then the Clarendon hotel) in 1900.
Lamartine Dwan passed away in 1939 and the Clarendon was sold. Probate records show that when he passed he left £47,617.14, equivalent to over $6.3 million in today’s money.
