So I was walking up the stream with a microchip scanner, looking for our tagged giant kokopu when this caught my eye....

It's alive and perfectly healthy. There is plenty of room there, it isn't beached.

And it sat like that, perfectly still, while I scanned it, put the scanner down, got my phone out, paused my music player, waited forever for my camera app to open, and snapped a few photos!

I tried catching it with my hands ( ) but it swam off.

Some fish are just weird. (and unfortunately untagged)
