Happy Father’s Day weekend to all the amazing dads out there!

Adoro Café will be closed tomorrow (Sunday) for Father’s Day.

After a busy Saturday, we wish we could be open tomorrow to celebrate with you all, but we are taking the day off to relax, soak up the Father's Day vibes, and spend some quality time with our kids.

We initially decided to close on Sundays over the quiet winter period. However, we can already feel the busier spring energy kicking in, and no one wants the café open 7 days a week more than we do!

Operating 7 days comes with its own set of challenges. To do it right, we need a reliable, capable team who take pride and dignity in their work. Having the right people in place ensures the café runs smoothly even when we aren't here, so our mental health and family time aren't compromised. While overall employment might be high, finding skilled hospitality talent in New Zealand—and specifically here in Hawke’s Bay—remains a real challenge.

If you've been in lately, you know Harvinder has been doing the work of three people—head chef, pastry chef, and kitchen hand. While business owners often do whatever it takes, she truly deserves a well-earned break and time with the family tomorrow. Our hard-working team has been pushing every single day, and looking after them comes first.

We currently have two positions open:

Experienced Head Chef: This is not an entry-level job. We are looking for a qualified, experienced chef who can lead a team and run the kitchen efficiently.

Cook / Kitchen Hand: Experience or a cookery qualification is preferred, but we are happy to train the right person with a great attitude.

The sun finally showed up in Hawke’s Bay today! We had a gorgeous taste of what’s ahead as we closed up for Sunday to spend some quality time with family. With just one day left of August, spring is officially here tomorrow! ☀️🌱
We're so ready for those longer, warmer days and making the most of every moment.
It’s no secret that it has been a tough stretch for small businesses across New Zealand. Everyone has been counting down for winter to end, hoping the warmer months bring the boost needed to get on top of those piling bills. Running a business means balancing family, personal health, and well-being, all while keeping a smile on your face and pushing forward no matter what. We truly feel the pain that every household and small business owner is going through right now.
