We are a boutique cupcake and cake shop located in Mount Maunganui. Open Tues - Sunday, 8:30-2pm, we specialise in baking beautiful and delicious cakes and sweets for all occasions. Hannah & Tom 💕 How incredible are these flowers from Amanda - Flour + Bloom? Honestly, we LOVE it when couples consider not just how the cake will taste and look (obviously key things!) but how the cake will be displayed and this is just FLORAL PERFECTION. Thank you for choosing us to create your cake Hannah & Tom! And for showcasing it like this. Oof. I love it. Hopefully this coming season we’ll see more amazing cake displays like this 😍

New collection incoming 🩷🩵💜 Which means we have photoshoot cakes to giveaway!! Any local new mums or mums-to-be out there needing a sweet pick me up via the magical powers of cake?

We have two cakes - both have a slice cut out of them (so we could photograph the inside) but that slice has been put back in. So they are full cakes! They’re just a little bit pre-cut 😆

We have a ‘mini’ that serves 6 and a ‘tall’ that serves up to 20. Both vanilla (not GF).

Drop either ‘mini’ or ‘tall’ (whichever you’d prefer) in the comments below and we’ll pick two people tonight! The cakes will just need to be collected from the shop tomorrow (Weds) between 8:30-2pm.

And just pre-empting (because I know how lovely so many of you are 🫶) that lots of people will suggest I donate them to somewhere like the hospital SCBU - don’t worry we have a big cake heading their way too!! xx

Custom cake for a lucky little girl 💕 We had the sweetest and kindest reaction from the customer when this cake was picked up. I got a little emotional hearing it first hand 🥹

To get to witness people’s reactions when they collect their cakes is such a highlight of what we do. Yes, we get to make pretty, delicious things but we also get to make people happy - and that is a core reason why I was drawn to bake in the first place and why I wanted to create Spongedrop.

Our aim is to bring a little joy to people’s lives, whether that’s through a cupcake and coffee on a cold winter morning, a warm cheese scone slathered in butter, or a gorgeous celebration cake for a special occasion. It’s all with the intention of bringing a little more joy to your world!
