PEOPLE OF PALLISER
Fresh back from a whirlwind trip through New York, Washington DC, Maryland and North Carolina, Sandy has been out sharing Palliser wines with importers, trade partners and consumers across the United States.
As our Global Sales Manager, Sandy spends her days helping get Palliser wines into glasses, wine lists, cellars and fridges around the world. Here's a little more about the person behind the role.
—
What's your favourite Palliser wine + music (or film) pairing?
I'm a '60s music fan, so a Sunday evening cooking and listening to Roy Orbison and Lesley Gore with a Chardonnay is an ideal end to the weekend.
—
Greatest wine myth you'd like to debunk?
That you HAVE TO drink Sauvignon Blanc with fish and Pinot Noir with lamb. Everyone's palate is different and I think life is too short to not just drink what you like. And I like Chardonnay with everything!
—
Best piece of wine career advice you've received?
When I started working as an Area Manager at Negociants NZ, Managing Director Clive Weston was known for providing great leadership and inspiration to the team.
We had all the resources to sell: sell sheets, pricing strategies, and deals. But Clive always said: "the most authentic way is to get the wine in their glass, and tell the honest story".
—
If you weren't working in the wine industry, what would you be doing?
I've been selling wine for over 25 years, so that's a tough one. I don't want to rain on Pip's parade from her post earlier in the year, but I'd probably be running a doggy daycare!!
—
Ultimate wine experience on your bucket list?
I am very fortunate to have already visited the awe-inspiring cellars of Champagne Bollinger in Aÿ, France, Bodega González Byass in Jerez, Spain, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Burgundy, along with many other famous cellars. Too many to name, and bucket list achieved!
